Skating with Pers voice in the background is so very inspiring!<br />
<br />
Denis Sopovic organized the freestyle event, which was held at High Valley Skateworld at the same time as Bowlstock, Betongcupen and Eurocana reunion, so it was a very special weekend. For me, it was great fun to skate on more or less home ground (I live 1 hour from Stockholm) with lots of old freestyle friends watching. And having my friends Mike McGill and Steve Caballero watching my final run was very special and meant a lot o me. I actually skated freestyle with Steve Caballero at the Summer Camp in 1982. At this contest Mike McGill was going to enter the masters, but unfortunately his son got injured and they had to go to the hospital.<br />
<br />
Thank you Denis for organizing this event and I can't wait to next year! And thank you all freestylers that showed up!<br />

<h3>
</h3>
It has become an annual tradition to go to Japan for competition, demo and training. I like it so much there and can't wait to go back!<br />
<br />
This time It rained almost every day, but it was nice and warm. The skatepark at Shin-Yokohama has a bridge covering part of the freestyle area so I skated there several times as usual.<br />
<br />
As usual competition atLake Koshigaya. The first weekend was the amateurs and girls and demo. The following weekend was the pro division. The contest is a tournament and I had to meet Masahiro in my first heat and anticipated the outcome ... Masahiro became the winner of the whole competition.<br />
<br />
Masahiros son impressed a lot! Mirei placed second in the girls division the weekend before and could enter her first pro competion (the winner of the girls divison declined). She met Satoshi and was beaten and is thus back in the amateur class. In Japan they have a system that you have to win a certain number of competitions to compete in the pro class and not to be beaten in the first heat.<br />
<br />
As always I had great fun times in Akihabara, Harajuku, Shibuya, etc. and also went sightseeing in Kamakura With Nozomu and author Craig Snyder (A Secret History Of The Ollie).<br />

<h3>Japan 2016</h3>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Hade som vanligt kul i Akihabara, Harajuku, Shibuya etc och det blev en till sigthseeing till Kamakura med Nozomu och författaren av Craig Snyder (A Secret History Of The Ollie).Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06084918187931473534noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4719943046542919651.post-83196140067622563982016-10-07T07:28:00.000-07:002016-10-09T23:27:23.939-07:00Show i Nässjö under prova-på dag<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<h3>
</h3>
Had a great time touring Sweden in June and July with skateboard- and BMX-school and show. First we took a flight to northern Sweden for a school and show in Kiruna, then the next day a long car ride to Arjeplog and the next day school and show there. Then car ride to Luleå and fly back home.<br />
<br />
A few days later we wen to Fagersta where I lived for 1 1/2 year in mid 1980's. It was extra special as during my living there I practiced for the European Championships 1987 and won first place.<br />
<br />
Next day off to Färgelanda and the day after school and show, and right after a car ride to Munkedal for an evening school and show. Next day off to Charlottenberg, close to the Norwegian border for a school, and then a long car ride home.<br />
<br />
<h3>
<br />
<br />
Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06084918187931473534noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4719943046542919651.post-19837398898098138822016-06-21T00:09:00.005-07:002016-06-21T00:21:37.615-07:003 fantastiska dagar i Rådsparken i Huddinge<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>

<h3>
3 wonderful days in Rådsparken, Huddinge</h3>
</div>
<div>
Sun and a blue sky! We were back in Rådsparken in Huddinge for 3 days with skateboarding school, kickbike school, demos with skateboard, BMX and kickbike and Future Promotion (who took care of the whole event) was on site with their Alien Bikes and climbing wall.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Swedish television visited and filmed. I had the chance to prove I can teach anyone to skate in 2 minutes, and i succeeded!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
A nice surprise was that the area we do demo on had a topping, very nice asphalt, so it was extra fun.<br />

<br />
It was a blast! So great to meet so many of my friends again! The quality of the skating in the pros were amazing. I placed 6th and here is my second final run. The contest ran for 4 days and is as much a skateboard camp as this years biggest freestyle contest.
Det tog ett tag att vänja sig på det mjuka golvet, och det var första showen på den nya freestylebrädan från <a href="http://www.moonshineskateboards.com/" target="_blank">Moonshine</a>.Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06084918187931473534noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4719943046542919651.post-43938973256636368672016-06-01T10:41:00.000-07:002016-10-09T23:32:40.995-07:00Show at Enskedefältets skolaThe show at Enskedefältets school rained out, but because Andreas brought his Alien bikes, all the visitors who braved the rain (and they were many!) Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06084918187931473534noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4719943046542919651.post-82176829227197649222016-03-08T14:06:00.000-08:002016-03-08T14:07:04.260-08:00Some new and some old tricks on my new board<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/J0g_YkDAV1s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Practicing some tricks (some new, some old) I want to get better at. Stockholm Skatepark practice March 2016.<br />
<br />
Double fingerflip, 540 Shove it, 540 Nose Shove it, Tailhandlfip to truckstand, Nose wheelie spacewalk, Faikie 360 fingerflip – all seem to work better on this new Moonshine freestyle deck, but I have a long way to go until they are perfect enough to be in my routines. At least I am having fun and could not stop skating, this board is so fun!!!!<br />

The article is also about the goal to get skateboarding into the olympics in 2020, and my hopes that I can be part of it, with freestyle skateboarding as a demo sport.<br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;">While planning my trip to Canada for this years World Round-Up in Canada I got asked by Günter Mokulys, 9 or 10 times freestyle World Champion, to join him and Swedish freestyler Felix Jonsson (who is also a World Champion) for a roadtrip. Meeting up in San Fransisco and then rent a car and drive to Vancouver and then drive down to southern California and Las Vegas.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiI8BINZBLs_rmx_qoYuxZ6jlSRs7_ORIbdzxeXOkdUWHtY8yy7Z06Qj9k41ea2wv2w2XRIMZfLUx-_I0YAkmYvG2A4y2fCEmM1j7Poe5LD0lorGKj8ESvrs9fD5H6oonFekNBb0FEhsz4/s1600/IMG_4792.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiI8BINZBLs_rmx_qoYuxZ6jlSRs7_ORIbdzxeXOkdUWHtY8yy7Z06Qj9k41ea2wv2w2XRIMZfLUx-_I0YAkmYvG2A4y2fCEmM1j7Poe5LD0lorGKj8ESvrs9fD5H6oonFekNBb0FEhsz4/s1600/IMG_4792.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I had to think about this opportunity for a day or two. I already was missing out of tons of demos, as they seemed to all happen in May, same week as the World Round-Up. The roadtrip would mean I would probably miss out of more. On the other hand I had not been in Calfornia since 2011, and I used to go once every year since 2000.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So I decided to join Günter and Felix. I have travelled alone many times so I was excited and thought it would be fun to go on a roadtrip with fellow freestylers. So we started to make a plan, and with Germans it's easy to plan in details. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Me and Felix flew in to San Fransisco, an 18 hour flight (transfer in Frankfurt, Germany) and met up with Günter. We rented a car and briefly passed by the Golden Gate bridge. I was in San Fransisco in 2000 for a contest, but did not have time to go see the Golden Gate, so it was about time. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The movie nerd in me imagined things happening on and around the bridge... Planes flying under the bridge, things rising out of the water etc. But to my disappointment nothing happened.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Next was a 22 hour drive to Vancouver, even though Google maps said less than 15. But eating and filling up gas takes time, and Günter took his time preparing coffee at each stop. Not sure what he puts in his coffee, but it must be a very special mix as it takes so long, and then the usual when all are in the car and ready to go, someones goes: "Wait, I need to go to the bathroom!".</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I have a license since a few years ago, but our "tour leader" Günter decided I am too much of a beginner driver. Felix was behind the wheel a few hours, but most of the time Günter was driving.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Looking back an 18 hour flight and then a 22 hour drive, getting to Vancouver at 11 pm </div>
<div>
and the 4 days event starting the next day may seem to be a bit crazy to say the least.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It was nice to see parts of California I never have seen before, and Oregon was also very nice. Suddenly I saw a sign Mount Shasta, and realized I know a skater/musician there. Barno, who has skated since the 1970's and participated in building the famous Burnside skatepark. He was in Sweden for seminars a few years ago and I ran into him. It was too late at night and I did not have his address, but contacted him later and we decided to meet on the way back from Vancouver.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Next stop Vancouver! Stay tuned for part 2! (May take some time, I am no regular blogger...)</div>

It was a rainy and cold day. A few days before the weather forecast showed sunny weather and blue sky, but it ended up with dark and heavy rainclouds. Fortunately the organizers had put up a tent on an area that was a bit arched, so it would not be flooded.<br />
<br />
Well, it worked partly, a bit flooded but a small area was dry so we did the show and had lots of fun! The second show, the area was less flooded so we had a bigger space.<br />

They had invited journalists to try their new lines of cameras.<br />
<br />
It was a very different show, more of a jam session than a regular show. The surface was hard to skate on, but I was surprised I could still handle it very well.<br />
<br />
We made it into a magazine as well.<br />

We have been doing shows together for, well, forever I think. This time some of his BMX friends showed up, and they all were amazing on flatland and had a jam session before our show. Here is a video from the jam session, and also the show. It was a very small and super slippery surface so I did not skate my best, but I had fun. Thank you for letting me be part of your amazing jam session, and thank you for having me in the show, it was a blast!<br />

But as usual I'm touring schools in Sweden with the <a href="http://www.bmxskolshow.se/" target="_blank">BMX Skolshow</a> together with the amazing BMX:er Andreas Lindqvist. The purpose<br />
of the show is to inspire kids to use helmets when biking, skateboarding and snowboarding etc.<br />

I was there last year as well and it was so fun and exciting I had to go back this year, and I will most likely go back in 2014 as well.<br />
<br />
The format at Round-Up is a bit different, with 1 minute runs instead of the 2 minute runs. Two runs in the qualification and three runs in the finals. I am personally in favor of the 2 minute runs as think that is where I excel, but variation between events is fun and it makes me practice a bit different and not always do run throughs of my 2 minute run.<br />
<br />
I chose to have three different 1 minute runs, in case I would go to the finals, which was not easy, considering the high level of the many skaters entering. If I made the first run with no mistake I would then do the second run and so on. And I did in the finals both first and second with no mistake so I could do my third run as well. The third run was just "rapid fire trick-to-trick", no spacewalks, wheelies or footworks, a kind of skating I don't really enjoy too much, but it was fun as an experiment, and it was only for 1 min. Longer, and I would get very bored and want to do my spacewalks and wheelies instead...<br />
<br />
It was great fun to meet my friends from all over the world. Travelling to contests and meet my friends and hang out, skate and sightsee with them is probably the main reason that motivate me to go to contests year after year.<br />

Famous Swedish actor and artist Lasse Åberg also got awarded.<br />
<br />
This award ceremony was held during Håbo Festdag, and the stage was close to the skatepark, so I could have a skate session before getting awarded.<br />

<br />
Kevin Harris tried his best to come with me to Japan, but could not make it. We were both there in 2009 for the World Championships and I really liked it and wanted to go back soon. I had planned to go back last year but due to Fukushima Daiichi I decided things were a bit too uncertain at that time. But this year there was nothing stopping me!<br />
<br />
When Kevin declined I asked Felix Jonsson if he would like to go with me, he has "blamed" me for turning him into a world traveller after he had travelled with me to the World Championships in Philadelphia, USA, 2010. He was excited to go and on November 10 the Aeroflot flight took off towards Narita airport in Tokyo, with a transfer in Moscow. At first I was a bit concerned about flying with Aeroflot, as they used to have a rather bad reputation. I read up on Aeroflot and it was in the 1990's they were not the airline with the best reputation, but these days have moved up. I was super happy with them, top notch planes and service, at least from Moscow to Tokyo. The Moscow airport was however not the most fun airport but it was cool to be there. We pretended that all female personnel were KGB agents in disguise... just like in old James Bond movies...<br />
<br />
When we arrived at Narira airport we took the Keiser Skyliner train to Ueno station to transfer to the subway. I was a bit worried how to travel in Tokyo, but had done extended research by asking my Japanese friends and reading up on the internet.<br />
<br />
We were going to stay at freestyler Rogerios place in Meguro, south west Tokyo, and a bit later than expected we meet up with him at the Meguro station, and also with Mic Murayama, womens freestyle World Champion. She had volunteered to guide us to the skatepark at Nissan Stadium in Shin-Yokohama the same day we arrived. That skatepark is a heaven for freestylers with the biggest flatland area on the earth, with perfect smooth concrete.<br />
<br />
We had a great freestyle session that night and our friend Tomo also skated with us. He was in Sweden for the World Championships in 2011 with Mic and Takashi.<br />
<br />
Next day, Sunday, Moichi had organized a freestyle session at the Shin-Yokohama skatepark. 20 or so freestylers showed up but due to miscommunications about time and how to get there we were several hours late, which was very embarrassing for me, I don't like to be late. But it was a great session, most were still there when we finally arrived but unfortunately not Moichi and I felt very bad for coming there so late and missing the opportunity to meet and skate with him again. I have not skated with as many freestylers for a long time. It was great to skate again with Masahiro, Takashi, Tomo, Mic, Yuki and many more, and I got some new friends as well.<br />
<br />
12 days in Japan, full packed with sightseeing, skating and hanging out with our Japanese friends. <br />
<br />
As I don't eat meat, fish or seafood it was a bit of a challenge finding food when you can't speak Japanese. I was so hungry some days that I had to revert back a few times to some junk food, and McDonalds and Subway felt like a life saver! Big Mac with no meat.... I did eat some Japanese food that I don't know what it was... it could had been fish eggs, but I was so hungry I could literally eat anything!<br />
<br />
I was happy to meet my friend Ryhoei again, we had a skate session together at the Nissan skatepark in Shin-Yokohama and we also skated transitions a bit. Ryhoei was our guide in 2009 and we have been in contact ever since. He is very good and talented freestyler/streetskater.<br />
<br />
I had planned my visit so I could attend the All Japan Freestyle Skateboard Contest 2012. It was held at a shoppingmall and outlet in Lake Town, just outside Tokyo. Mic was travelling with us, without her we would never have made it. So many transfers to get there. Thank you Mic for being an angel, and getting us there in time!<br />
<br />

<br />
The Japanese freestylers are some of the best in the world. Their technical level is on a level that makes me feel embarassed, but they are so nice and supportive that I had more fun than ever. <br />
<br />
Moichi won the pro division, Masahiro in second and me in third. Qualification was one run and so was the finals. In the finals I did the biggest slam ever on a 360 shove it. I still can't understand how it was possible to slam that hard on that trick. But I was quickly up on my board and did no more mistakes.<br />
<br />
It was a great trip, so fun to meet my Japanese friends again and also make new friends.<br />
<br />
Special thanks to Felix, Mic, Kaori, Ryhoei, Moichi, Masahiro, Tomo, Yuki and everyone! I plan to go back soon again and I promise to continue practice how to use chopsticks...<br />
<br />
And to Mic and Kaori: I want a bowling re-match! :)Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06084918187931473534noreply@blogger.com0
